Above is a series of photograph's of the Lady's Slipper Orchid, Britain's rarest plant. This is the the actual plant which was featured recently on many news programs. There were 2 known plants growing in the wild in Britain. This one was close to Silverdale Golf course in Lancashire. It had been there for about 80 years and was a magnificent flower to see. Unfortunately during the night of 20th July 2004 the plant was stolen, the police think probably to order, with a value of ₤2000 or more! I took these images only a fortnight or so before, I'm glad I did as I may never have the chance to photograph this orchid in Britain again!
